Hello Boosters & Students!

 

Welcome to 2019-2020! We, the Band Booster Board, try to send out a monthly newsletter and weekly updates. The Booster Board and Band Directors also communicate as needed via email and text with volunteer requests and updates. This one is kind of a weekly update / as needed combo.

 

I hope you all had the chance to attended the Band Picnic / August Meeting last month. If you missed it or just want a refresher you can view the Meeting Presentation* here and read the minutes here.

Booster & Disney Trip Kickoff Meeting @ 7PM in the Tigard High Library

NEW DATE! Mon, Sept 16TH, 2019

We’ll spend a few minutes on regular Booster business and then dedicate the remainder of the meeting to info about the Disney Trip.
$50 Disney Trip Deposit to reserve your spot is due Friday, Sept 23rd. All trip and fee payments are payable to the Tigard High Band Boosters.

Our Can & Bottle Drive is a 3 Part Process

 

1) Flyer Distribution to Tigard Neighborhoods – Mon, Sept 23 – Fri, Sept 27 After School, multiple shifts and a very critical part of our drive!

SIGN UP SHEETS FOR FLYER DISTRIBUTION ARE HANGING ON THE WALL OPOSITE IRVING’S OFFICE. Students get together and form teams of 3-4 and then find an adult driver to take the students to their route. There are a few routes within walking distance of THS. It is up to the students to coordinate when they are going to do the flyers and who is driving them. Flyer Packets can be picked up at 3:15PM in the band room on MON, TUE, WED, or THU starting Sept 23rd! Please note that it will take a group of 4 students about 2-3 hours to paper a neighborhood. Please plan accordingly and it goes a lot smoother and faster with a parent helping! They are required to finish the ENTIRE route no later than 6:00 pm on Friday but sooner is better!

 

2. Pick-up and sort the donated cans and bottles into three groups; cans, plastic, and glass. September 28th at Tigard High School from 9AM – 3PM, multiple shifts!

We need students and adults for pickup and sorting all day long.

 

3. (Adults only) Deliver and unload the sorted donations at the Oregon Bottle Redemption Center in NW Portland the week following the drive. Monday Sept 30th, 2019 at 10:30AM.

Wed, Sep 12th, 2019. “Band” Jacket Order Deadline

Not just for competitive marchers! These are for the ENTIRE group including Color Guard & Drumline kids. Parents too!!! We need a MINIMUM of 12 jackets ordered and we’re only about 1/2 way there! Cost is $46 payable to THS Band Boosters (this is our cost, no markup). Add $1.00/jacket for credit card payments. Jackets will ready by Oct 4th.

 

Wed, Sept 11, 2019. THS Parent Support Organization (PSO) @ 4PM in the THS Pricipals Office (not a Band Booster event)

Of course we want you to spend your volunteer time helping the band but the PSO is currently in need of a person to fill their Secratary position and may need All-School Auction Chairperson(s). In addition to being more involved in the school, it would not hurt to have a Band Booster parent on the THS PSO Board. Please contact Cathy Gadbury at shasty2@frontier.com if interested. All parents are encouraged to attend the PSO meetings and there will be some PSO meetings that the PSO votes on items that effect our programs. We’ll keep you informed about those.

Fri, Oct 4, 2019. THS Homecoming Parade. Band call time – ask Irving*

Pizza dinner will be provided for HS Band kids at no charge by the Band Boosters (Twality and Fowler Bands will join us for dinner – MS kids will pay $3/ea). We’ll need a volunteer to pickup the pizzas, and some volunteers to provide cookies, fruit, salad and help serve and clean up.
